Book Review (quick tea short and sweet!)
P.S. I Like you by Kasie West
Actual rating: 3.5 stars this book was so cute!!
Plot: The plot was very predictable and there was nothing that really shocked me. The pacing was the perfect pace, not too slow to where it bored me and not too fast to where i was confused and with whiplash. There was always something going on which i appreciated. I really liked the song writing and music element to this book i haven't read many books that were similar in that respect.
Characters: The characters felt real to me but for some reason i didn't feel fully connected to them. I wanted the main characters to be more developed. I enjoyed Lily's household it was very amusing and fun to read and how crazy her family was. With that said, the family dynamics in this book were great and interesting to read about. Although i liked the main character, Lily and her weird quirkiness, i felt at times she was very immature like how she held stupid grudges.
Romance: The romance didn't feel forced and i liked how it came to be, i can't reveal who the love interest is because of spoilers but its pretty obvious in the beginning, it doesn't take much to figure out. The exchanging letters on the desk in class aspect was super cute and i enjoyed that unique element of the story and romance. I think they both fit well together, they were a perfectly imperfect pair and an unlikely one but in a very good way. I didn't fully connect to the romance but i enjoyed reading about the romance and seeing it develop. There were certainly some cute moments.
Writing style: The writing style was the first thing that drew me in and captivated me right away. It was very entertaining and it became kind of hard to stop reading. The plot pacing and writing style worked perfectly in sync together which is what drew me in from the jump which i was grateful for. I liked how light and fluffy the writing style was but a con to that was that this actually read more like a middle grade at times than a young adult. The writing and plot wasn't as mature as a young adult should be much to my disappointment. It didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story though.
