A Tragic Kind of Wonderful by Eric Lindstrom

                              Book Review

A Tragic Kind Of Wonderful by Eric Lindstrom

Firstly, i would like to give a big thanks to Goodreads and the person who held the giveaway I'm super grateful and happy that i won and i will provide an honest review in exchange of course:)

Plot: The plot pacing was very slow i felt like not a lot happened until the end. The plot didn't really intrigue me as much as i would have liked. I liked the fact that Mel worked at the elderly home that aspect of the plot was cute and i enjoyed that because it was sweet and unique. I liked the ending because we got more " action " if you will and i was more interested. This book was mostly about friendships which I'm usually not a huge fan of friendship based books, in this book it was okay it was mediocre, was i bored at some points by the slow plot pacing? yes.

Characters: Mel i thought was pretty bland in the beginning and middle, although we got to see her sweet and kind side when she worked in the elderly home and i thought she was a good friend but i thought she was pretty bland until the end. Holly and Declan, her current friends when the book starts, i thought they were okay they were pretty 2 dimensional though. i feel like Zumi was meant to be like this awesome character but she was okay all of the characters were pretty 2 dimensional including the love interest David. I was intrigued by Aunt Joan i wish we could've learned more about her. The characters overall were pretty flat to me. I wish i would've connected with Mel more.

Writing style: The writing style was simple nothing special to me it was pretty bland. There were parts where there were rambling on sentences and run on sentences to reflect Mel's mental state i thought that was interesting.

Romance: The romance was okay it didn't give me butterflies it didn't make me swoon although the romance was in no way the main focal point of the story it was very much a very side side plot for sure. I wish the romance could've been more prominent but maybe thats because i love romance. It fell flat for me and David was okay he was mediocre he definitely didn't feel real to me.

Depiction of Mental Illness: In this book Mel, our main character has bipolar disorder. I was excited to get into the mind of someone with bipolar disorder i wanted to be educated on the topic which was my main if not only motive for wanting to read it. For most of the book Mel was doped up on drugs not to say she wasn't sober... she was it was just for most of the book we didn't get to see the full extent of her disorder because she was on mind altering drugs. I liked the mixed states part of it that was something new i learned i just feel i wasn't completely clear on how bipolar disorder worked. I don't think this book had a very clear and raw depiction of what bipolar disorder is which disappointed me.

Overall i wouldn't recommend this if you want an in depth look into what bipolar disorder is or how it operates but if you want to read a short quick contemporary with substance why not give it a shot you might just really enjoy it.
