Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Book Review(quick tea short and sweet!)

Miss Peregrines home for Peculiar Children By Ransom Riggs

Actual rating 3.5 This was my first book club book and i enjoyed it even though the beginning was rough

Characters: I didn't feel that attached to the characters. At first i didn't like Emma but she kind of grew on me as the story progressed. The characters were okay, some of them felt real but i wasn't very connected to them. Our MC Jacob was just like any other character, there was nothing special about him. Some of the decisions the characters made were stupid and frustrated me.

Romance: The romance was very odd, i didn't really understand how it could have come about, but i won't go into details because of spoilers. The romance was cute at times but i couldn't get past a certain fact that made it very odd to me.

Plot: The plot in the beginning was very slow, too slow to the point where it was boring. The plot didn't really take off until the 200 page mark. After that, the pacing picked up because the mystery picked up and the story then became intriguing and really started to develop albeit very late. The end had a lot of action which i enjoyed and bumped the rating up for me a bit. I wasn't on the absolute edge of my seat, but it was somewhat captivating.

World Building: The world building was very interesting and unique. I liked the idea of the peculiar children's home and the time loops. The world wasn't one i connected to it just wasn't for me although it was intriguing. Some world you connect with and some you don't. The children's powers were interesting and that was one of my favorite things to read about.

Writing Style: In the beginning the writing style was very bland and i wasn't enjoying the story. At page 200 once again, the writing style started to captivate me more and more and the world started to appear more whimsical along with it.

This book wasn't very creepy which i was pleased with. I know this book has a lotttt of hype and although i enjoyed it i don't think it lives up to the hype.
